We were heading back to Southampton after a successful cruise in the Barents Sea. The science went really well, spirits were high, the food was delicious, and we were happy enough to see several polar bears along the way. What more could you ask for?
We were right in the middle of a meeting, discussing about the cruise report, when suddenly someone saw something moving by the window. We all ran outside and were lucky enough to see a pod of orcas swimming in our direction! We could not detach our eyes for a long while. There is definitely no better office than a research ship. That was probably one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.
