About The Event
Understanding the past and the present, the links between them, predicting the future of Antarctica to better understand the issues and challenges we face in a context of climate change - these are the questions that will be debated during our next conference at the Talk CEC gallery on Friday 16 June at 3pm.Â
On the programme, four of our members will be presenting their research:
- The past: Lisa Ardoin (ULB) will discuss how gases trapped in ice core, and especially in the deepest ice, are not atmospheric after a certain depth and what effects that could have on climate change.
- The present: Stephy Libera (UCL) will explain the importance of Antarctic sea ice and the role of the Southern Ocean.
- The future: Feba Francis (UCL) will discuss the upcoming ENSO and its relevance for polar regions.
- From past to future: Marina Buffoli (UGent) will explain how studying the past can help us understanding the future: what sediment cores could tell us about past ecosystem and environmental changes and why they could help us predict what will happen to Antarctica in the future?
If, like us, your curiosity is sparked, come and join us this Friday at 3pm at Talk CEC!
